CMEPP

Blog post by Nils Clausen, CMEPP CEO

I’m both gratified and elated that at our recent board meeting, CMEPP’S new four-year Strategic Plan was finalized and approved. Now a different kind of hard work begins, but at this moment I want to celebrate the process we undertook to make it happen.

We knew our plan was going to touch all our external stakeholders, every employee and every aspect of the organization, so we made sure that creating it was a thoughtful process. One of the most valuable steps was enlisting people with differing views and opinions – our Participant members, our Supplier network, employees, board, and industry partners. An outside agency provided perspective and helped us pull it together into a single, forward-focused plan.

The new plan has three strategic priorities:

1 – Become an Indispensable Partner

2 – Amplify National Impact

3 – Enhance Organizational Capacities

There’s no question that healthcare has become a high stakes environment. Resources are stretched thin and organizations need partners who can codesign flexible solutions. We’re maturing our capabilities to the point where we are that partner.

Setting a high bar

With the new plan coming into focus, we knew we needed to take another look at our vision, mission and values. This became one of the most important – and I should say, debated – parts  of the planning process.

As these three critical elements came together, I realized they give us a clear understanding of what matters at CMEPP and how our unique, people-first culture is the foundation on which our organization can thrive.

At its heart, our new plan gives our team a clear roadmap they can unite around. They played a part in choosing those goals and know what they can do to help reach them.

This was intense work, but we showed up with patience, honesty, and respect. Yes, we’ve set a high bar but I know that the CMEPP team – and our partners – are used to having the tough conversations that lead to exceptional results.

With this new plan, we’ll have to change some old patterns and build something new.

For 30 years, CMEPP has delivered savings and efficient equipment management. That commitment won’t change. The power and possibility of this plan is that it will motivate us to do more with our collective resources, address new pain points for our Participants, and strengthen the quality and sustainability of the Canadian healthcare system.

A huge thank you to everyone who asked the deeper questions and got us to this day!
