CMEPP

If they’re lucky, visitors to Health Services will learn about a few of Newfoundland’s many ‘firsts’ from Tony Poole, Senior Director, Provincial Medical Imaging Program, NL Health Services.

Things like, it was the first and only province in Canada to have a national anthem; first non-stop transatlantic flight in 1919; first and only province to have published its own encyclopedia; first province to have originated two dog breeds!

A real source of pride happened last year when NL Health Services became the first provincial medical imaging program in Canada to receive accreditation. Well done!

Now they can add this to the list – CMEPP just held its first Atlantic Canada Participant Engagement Meeting (PEM) in St. John’s.

In a dynamic exchange of insights and ideas from both organizations, we learned an incredible amount, including the way NLHS emerged stronger after a large and complex transformation that brought four health regions together. They did it by building on their shared purpose, communication and collaboration.

Every healthcare organization is facing staffing challenges – and NLHS is no different. In their guest presentation, Lisa Camp and Tammy Robson, Program Managers in Diagnostic Imaging, explained how Quinte Health is getting traction with career fairs, dedicated recruiters, and a partnership with Loyalist College.

Something else that’s taking off the pressure for Quinte – the arrival of CMEPP pilot program, the Equipment Coordination Service. Having a single point of contact has reduced their medical equipment maintenance burden and given staff more time to focus on patient care. “I want that!” said one of the NL Health Services delegates.

“NLHS has a robust and genuine support structure, in addition to having an amazing team,” said TJ Jarvis, CMEPP’s Direction, National Participant Accounts.

“In just one day, the PEM gave NLHS a chance to learn about our services and the way we work, and we heard about the hurdles they’re facing and the support we can provide,” said CMEPP CEO Nils Clausen. “That’s what we really care about.”
