Blog post by Nils Clausen, CMEPP CEO
As the new year approaches I like to think of a theme I’m going to live by. After a year that challenged me in ways I couldn’t have imagined, I’m ready to push myself a little further.
I think my motto this year is going to be ‘stay flexible, listen more, take more risks – and embrace the change.’ This is more important now than ever.
After more than nine months of intense discussion, reflection and debate, CMEPP is getting ready to launch its new Strategic Plan. As we emerge from this process, a little worn but exhilarated, here are three critical lessons:
1 – Listen a lot…even when what you’re hearing is difficult and painful. Our Participants are facing tough challenges and we sometimes ignore those headwinds at our peril. They need more support and we have to find ways to provide it.
2 – Embrace the position you occupy. Hearing from our Participants, board members, service suppliers and industry partners gave me a new perspective on the unique and important role CMEPP can play – and is already playing – in leading the national conversation about efficient equipment management.
3 – Our people are the foundation of our success. It’s been a challenging year and the team has consistently crushed it. My trust and respect for them has grown immeasurably. CMEPP is a stronger business because of everything they’ve done.
Stepping into a new year — and a new plan — is energizing and there are of course risks. But I’m excited about what lies ahead because I know we can do it.
Thank you to everyone who supported and partnered with CMEPP this year. I hope you find time to relax and reset during this holiday season. Best wishes for 2026!
