CMEPP

Being part of the Proposals and Reporting team means coping with multiple demands and a heavy workload. But helping people is something Clayton’s always thinking about and that makes CMEPP a perfect fit.

Meet someone who spends his days creating analyses of CMEPP data, shaping information into a more recognizable and understandable format for all our stakeholders. “Information is our bread and butter,” says Clayton. “From start to finish, everything we do at CMEPP, we look at.”

Clayton is part of the tight-knit Proposals and Reporting Team, whose creative and analytic talents revolve around deadlines, complex deliverables, and ever-expanding workloads. Stepping happily outside the spotlight, Clayton credits the team for their impressive output – “Albert (Ng) is our lead and gives us so much guidance.” Then, there’s Renata (Post). “She has a skill that transcends regular report writing. I think it’s because of her visual creative side.”

The benefits of a philosophy degree: Clayton’s path to CMEPP had a few twists, starting with a degree in philosophy and then a job in insurance. As his career has progressed, Clayton says the degree has proven useful in unexpected ways. “My philosophy degree was focused on logic, and logical thinking and programming are basically identical. It’s just different languages that you’re using to communicate. Coming to that realization was very helpful.”

CMEPP employees have come to expect – and delight in – Clayton’s clever, off-the-cuff insights  and so it’s no surprise that he’s disarmingly honest about a lifelong health condition. He lives with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy, a genetic form of epilepsy that is not very common. Although the illness requires adapting to different medications, he has learned over time that his health improves when he sticks to a regular routine and has good sleep hygiene.

Laughter is the best recipe: If anything, facing a health challenge has fueled the business analyst’s love of humour. “We have had trauma and our share of difficulties but in my family, laughter is what we usually resort to.”

He did not intentionally seek out a company that would accommodate his health condition but is grateful to have found it at CMEPP. “It is difficult at times, but no one has done a better job than CMEPP in providing me with the support I need to accomplish my goals, to get better.”

Does Clayton have a personal mantra? “Helping other people is something that I’m always thinking about. I can do my job at CMEPP and feel great because I know we’re in the same boat together, trying to help the hospitals, the patients, everybody.
